Reds' rainout creates day-night doubleheader

By John Erardi jerardi@enquirer.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Reds are making history with their history. Friday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies was rained out, so the Reds will make it up today as part of the first day-night doubleheader in the 33-season history of Cinergy Field, which hosts its final Reds game Sunday.

The games will be played at 12:05 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Fans with tickets for Friday's game must use those ticket stubs for the 12:05 p.m. game today or make a dollar-for-dollar exchange for tickets to games next season, once the schedule is determined.

Following the afternoon game, the stadium will be emptied, and only fans with tickets for the originally scheduled 7:10 p.m. game will be admitted. Gates open at 5:10 p.m.

Tonight's game is sold out. Tickets are still available for the afternoon game.

The fireworks show, which was to take place at the end of Friday's game, will take place after tonight's game.

Surely there must be people who had tickets for Friday night's game, today's University of Cincinnati-Ohio State football game and tonight's Reds game (to get the ashtray-sized Cinergy replica).

Those folks can make history of their own if they make it a tripleheader today.

        Tips for driving, parking downtown
