Reds-Pirates Series Preview




        When: Today through Thursday, 7:05 p.m.

        Where: PNC Park.

        TV: Fox Sports Net, Wednesday and Thursday.

        Radio: WLW (700 AM).

        Records: Reds 73-76, third place in the National League Central. Pirates 65-84, fourth place in the NL Central.

        The arms:

        Today - RHP Elmer Dessens (7-8, 2.93) vs. RHP Kip Wells (12-14, 3.61)

        Tuesday - TBA vs. RHP Kris Benson (7-6, 4.64)

        Wednesday - RHP Jimmy Haynes (14-9, 4.26) vs. RHP Josh Fogg (12-11, 4.32)

        Thursday - RHP Ryan Dempster (9-13, 5.60) vs. RHP Brian Meadows (1-6, 4.01).

        The bats: Brian Giles is second in the NL in on-base percentage (.440) and third in slugging percentage (.612).

        The rest: The Reds are 9-5 versus the Pirates on the year, including 3-2 at PNC Park.
