Reds Chatter
Walker as good as a hit
Todd Walker's hitting assault has gotten him over the .300 mark, but it may be too late for him to lead the team in hitting.
Injured Austin Kearns is sitting on .315. Should Kearns hold on - and it's unlikely he'll play again this season - he would be the first rookie to lead the team in hitting since Grady Hatton (.271) in 1946. It would be the highest batting average by a Reds rookie since Harlin Pool hit .327 in 1934.
Here's a look at recent Reds' statistical leaders, with the Reds 2002 leader:

Losing arms race
Not a lot has gone right for the Reds in the second half. One glaring area has been the pitching.
Before the All-Star break, the Reds pitching staff was 46-41 with a 4.04 ERA. After the break, it is 27-34 with a 4.89 ERA.
Losing ground
Griffey's injury-filled season has caused Junior to lose some ground among the active home run leaders. Here's a look entering Saturday:
Barry Bonds, 610
Sammy Sosa, 495
Rafael Palmeiro, 487
Fred McGriff, 476
Ken Griffey Jr., 467
