The bats: Sammy Sosa needs one RBI to reach 100 for the eighth straight year. Fred McGriff needs three more RBI to reach 100 for the year and 1,500 in his career. Overall, the Cubs are hitting .246, second-worst in the NL.
The rest: This is the first of seven games between the Reds and Cubs over the next 16 days. The Reds are 7-3 against the Cubs this year, including 2-1 at Cinergy.
