Taylor gets down the line fast

MILWAUKEE - Reggie Taylor, who batted leadoff Tuesday for the second straight night, was clocked at 3.49 seconds going to first base on his bunt Monday. He was thrown out on what appeared to be an exact tie of his foot on the bag and the ball in the glove. The umpire's out call didn't stop the smoke coming off the stopwatch.
A time of 3.7 or 3.8 is moving. A time of 3.5 is eye-popping. Bob Boone said he clocked former Red Deion Sanders at 3.43 and Tommy Goodwin at 3.44 (twice). Boone described both as world-class guys.
Boone said Taylor would go to the instructional league to work solely on bunting, to leverage his greatest strength - speed.
Boone praised Taylor's contributions to the Reds, at bat and in the field.
