Sosa fed up, wants changes
Baseball notebook
The Associated Press
Right fielder Sammy Sosa wants Chicago to clean up the mess after another losing season and restock the roster with players who can make the team a contender.
No question they got to clean the house, including myself. If I got to go, if somebody has got to go, no matter, Sosa said. They got to bring in some new people next year, people who want to go out there and give it the effort we are looking for.
I don't want next year to be the same in September and then go home. Hopefully, next year they clean up the mess they need to clean and, you know, we go to the playoffs.
INDIANS: Catcher Victor Martinez, one of the top players in Cleveland's minor league system, was recalled from Double-A Akron.

RANGERS: Texas infielder Herbert Perry agreed to a $3 million, two-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through the 2004 season.
Perry is batting .271 with 21 homers and 71 RBI in 117 games this season. He will get $1.3 million next year, and $1.7 million in 2004.
RED SOX: Boston ace Pedro Martinez threw in the bullpen and is scheduled to pitch Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays after missing two starts with a left hip injury.
