The arms: Today, Game 1 RHP Brian Moehler (4-8, 3.41) vs. LHP Chuck Finley (4-3, 3.92) or RHP Jason Simontacchi (9-4, 4.28); Game 2 RHP Elmer Dessens (7-5, 2.67) vs. Finley or Simontacchi; Wednesday LHP Shawn Estes (4-10, 4.58) vs. RHP Garrett Stephenson (1-4, 6.67); Thursday RHP Jimmy Haynes (12-8, 4.40 ERA) vs. RHP Woody Williams (6-3, 2.35).
The bats: Albert Pujols is getting some consideration as an MVP candidate. He is hitting .295 with 29 homers and 99 RBI. Edgar Renteria is hitting .344 since the All-Star break.
The rest: Today begins the Reds' run of seven games in 10 days against the Cardinals. The Cardinals were also off Monday. They play eight games in six days beginning today, and have another doubleheader Saturday in Chicago.
