Injuries leave bullpen thin
Reds put Sullivan on DL
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Reds relievers Scott Sullivan, John Riedling and Danny Graves are all nursing injuries. The Reds put Sullivan on the disabled list after Thursday's game.
There must be something in the water in that (bullpen) cooler, Riedling said.
The team needed to open a roster spot for Shawn Estes and Sullivan, who hasn't pitched in a week, was the obvious choice.
I'm very concerned about Sully, manager Bob Boone said. As good as he's been, I also need a real good Sully ... Two of his last five (appearances) haven't been effective.
Sullivan played long-toss Wednesday for the first time since receiving a cortisone injection in his sore right shoulder Sunday. He has posted a 12.79 ERA in his last five appearances.
Riedling strained his groin Wednesday but said he felt better Thursday.
I did this four or five years ago when I was a starter and didn't miss my next start, Riedling said.
Graves has had tightness in his back. He allowed a solo home run to Greg Colbrunn in the top of the ninth Thursday.
