Louisville 2, Norfolk 1
The Associated Press
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Kevin Witt's RBI double lifted the Louisville Bats to a 2-1 International League victory over the Norfolk Tides Wednesday night.
Norfolk took a 1-0 lead when Virgil Chevalier hit a solo home run off Jeff D'Amico with one out in the seventh inning. Chevalier also added a pair of singles on the evening to lead Norfolk offensively.
D'Amico (6-8) allowed one run on two hits over three innings.
Pat Strange (8-6) started for Norfolk and pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits. Two ninth-inning errors doomed Strange as the Bats scored two unearned runs to win the game.
Witt collected a pair of singles to go along with his game-winning double in four at-bats to account for all the Louisville offense.
