Louisville 2, Norfolk 0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Gerald Williams tripled in Kevin Witt and broke a scoreless tie in the seventh inning Tuesday night as the Louisville Bats beat the Norfolk Tides 2-0 in the International League.
Chris Sexton drove in Louisville's second run in the eighth. Witt went 2-for-4, the only Louisville player to collect multiple hits.
The Tides mounted a rally in the ninth inning, putting two on base with one out, but Bats pitcher Jose Silva induced Joe DePastino to ground into a game-ending double play. Norfolk had only four hits on the night.
Jose Acevedo (7-6) pitched seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out nine to earn the victory. Silva pitched the final two innings for his first save.
Tides starter Aaron Heilman (1-1) gave up four hits, one run and three walks and struck out 10 in seven innings.
