Where: PNC Park, Pittsburgh.
TV: Thursday, Fox Sports Net.
Radio: WLW-AM (700).
Records: Reds 49-44, second place in the National League Central. Pirates 43-50, fourth place in the NL Central.
The arms:
Today RHP Ryan Dempster (5-9, 5.06) vs. LHP Jimmy Anderson (6-10, 5.17)
Thursday RHP Jimmy Haynes (10-6, 4.28) vs. RHP Kip Wells (10-6, 3.45).
The bats: Brian Giles is hitting .302 with 26 home runs and 61 RBI, but the Pirates' other big bats haven't been so big this year. Kevin Young is hitting .240 with 12 homers and 26 RBI. Aramis Ramirez is hitting .217 with seven homers and 32 RBI.
The rest: The Pirates come in hot, winning five of six. Wells, Thursday's starter, was 8-2 with a 3.00 ERA in April and May. He's 2-4 with a 4.07 ERA since.
