AL wins Double-A All-Star game

The Associated Press

NORWICH, Conn. — Jorge Sequea hit a three-run homer and scored two runs in the same inning as the American League beat the National League in the Double-A All-Star game 11-2 Wednesday night.

Sequea, of the Erie SeaWolves, homered in his second trip to the plate in the AL's nine-run seventh inning. His first time up, he walked to lead off the inning and scored on a double by Aaron Miles of the Birmingham Barons.

Dewayne Wise of the Tennessee Smokies followed Sequea's homer with an inside-the-park home run off the Altoona Curve's Chris Spurling.

New Britain's Juan Padilla picked up the win. The Huntsville Stars' Jack Krawczyk was charged with the loss.

The Trenton Thunder's Freddy Sanchez opened the scoring for the AL with a solo homer in the first. The AL extended the lead to 2-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Graham Koonce of the Midland RockHounds that scored Norwich's Andy Phillips.

The National League tied it in the sixth. Harrisburg's Termel Sledge hit a two-out triple to score El Paso's Chad Tracy. Binghamton's Aaron McNeal singled to score Tracy.

The game featured players from the three Double-A leagues — the Eastern, Southern and Texas leagues.
