Bats 3, Clippers 1

        LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Brandon Larson hit a two-run double to lead the Louisville Bats to a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Clippers Saturday night in International League play.

        Brian Reith held the Clippers to one run in 6 1-3 innings and four Bats relievers held Columbus hitless. Reith struck out six and gave up seven hits and two walks.

        Jorge Cordova (1-0) picked up his first win by retiring the side in the eighth. Mike Neu got his eighth save, striking out two while retiring the side in the ninth.

        Larson's eighth-inning double broke a 1-1 tie. Louisville's first run came in the sixth inning off a single by Kevin Witt.

        Kary Bridges drove in the lone run for the Clippers.

        Jay Tessmer (4-4), working one out in the eighth, gave up one run and took the loss for Columbus. Starter Matt Beech went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks and striking out five.
