Reds vs. Brewers Preview
When: 1:15 p.m. today, 7:10 p.m. Friday, 7:10 p.m. Saturday, 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
Where: Cinergy Field.
TV: Saturday, Fox Sports Net.
Radio: WLW-AM (700).
Records: Reds 44-39, second in NL Central; Brewers 31-53, last in NL Central.
The arms:
Today RHP Elmer Dessens (5-4, 2.58) vs. RHP Jose Cabrera (4-5, 4.84)
Friday TBA vs. LHP Glendon Rusch (5-6, 4.61)
Saturday RHP Jimmy Haynes (9-6, 4.36) vs. RHP Jamey Wright (2-6, 5.98)
Sunday RHP Joey Hamilton (3-5, 4.98) vs. RHP Ruben Quevedo (4-6, 4.26).
The bats: 1B Richie Sexson (18 HR, 58 RBI, .279) and SS Jose Hernandez (13 HR, 40 RBI, .284) were named to the NL All-Star team, the first time since 1999 Milwaukee has had two All-Stars. But that's about it for the Brewers, who have the worst record in the league and, aside from their All-Stars, very little power.
The rest: The Reds are 7-0 this season vs. the Brewers, a good sign since Milwaukee is on the schedule for 19 games. The Reds swept the Brewers at home (May 6-8) and away (May 13-16). The Brewers will host Tuesday's All-Star Game, perhaps one reason Arizona manager Bob Brenly tapped two Brewers despite the club's awful record.
