ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Cliff Floyd homered for the third time in four games, snapping a sixth-inning tie as Florida beat Tampa Bay.
Preston Wilson also homered and right-hander Julian Tavarez (6-4) allowed two runs and seven hits in 6 1-3 innings to improve to 4-1 in June.
Reliever Armando Almanza bailed Tavarez out of a seventh-inning jam, and Vladimir Nunez pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 18th save in 23 opportunities.
Floyd's two-run homer off Joe Kennedy (5-7) broke a 1-1 tie. Wilson's solo shot in the third snapped an 0-for-13 streak and ended a stretch of 16 consecutive scoreless innings for the Marlins.
Brewers 10, Twins 2
MINNEAPOLIS — Matt Stairs homered twice and Jose Cabrera pitched six strong innings to lead Milwaukee over Minnesota.
Stairs went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the second inning and a two-run shot in the fifth. Paul Bako also had three hits with a homer and three RBIs for the Brewers, who snapped a six-game interleague losing streak.
Corey Koskie homered for the Twins, who saw their lead in the AL Central fall to five games over the Chicago White Sox.
Cabrera (4-5) allowed just three hits and two runs in matching the longest outing of his career. He walked none and struck out one.
Matt Kinney (2-7) allowed five runs and 11 hits in six innings, while walking two and striking out three. After winning his first start of the season, Kinney has gone 1-7 in his last 13 appearances — 11 starts.
Diamondbacks 4, Indians 2
CLEVELAND — Brian Anderson dominated his hometown team — and the one he spent two seasons with — for 7 1-3 innings and led Arizona past Cleveland.
Anderson (3-7) allowed four hits and faced just two over the minimum in his longest outing this season. After giving up a homer to good friend Jim Thome in the second, he retired 13 straight and 19 of the final 21 he faced.
The left-hander won for just the second time in 19 starts. He went 17 consecutive starts — over two seasons — without a win before beating Baltimore on June 18.
Byung-Hyun Kim, who gave up a walkoff grand slam earlier this week in a loss at Houston, loaded the bases in the ninth before striking out Travis Fryman and Milton Bradley for his 20th save.
Tigers 2, Pirates 1
DETROIT — Jeff Weaver pitched 7 2-3 sharp innings to help the Detroit Tigers end a four-game losing streak.
The Tigers won for just the second time in 10 games, while Pittsburgh lost for the 11th time in 15. The Pirates are just 2-9 in interleague play this season.
Weaver (6-8) allowed one run on seven hits, walked one and hit a batter. He struck out four. Juan Acevedo got the final out in the eighth, and pitched an eventful ninth, striking out Jack Wilson with the bases loaded for his 12th save.
Joe Beimel (1-2) allowed one unearned run and eight hits in six innings, his longest outing in four starts this season. He walked one and struck out three.
Padres 8, Royals 4, 10 innings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ron Gant, in a 1-for-15 skid, hit a grand slam off Dan Reichert in the 10th to power San Diego past Kansas City.
Jason Grimsley (3-4) started the 10th and walked the bases full on 13 pitches. Reichert came in and gave up Gant's fifth career grand slam on a 1-0 pitch.
Mike Sweeney's two-run homer off starter Brett Tomko in the sixth was his 15th of the year and fifth in five games, setting a team record and putting the Royals ahead 3-1.
Orioles 11, Phillies 1
BALTIMORE — Gary Matthews Jr. had a career-high five hits, including a two-run homer, and Jason Johnson pitched a six-hitter as Baltimore routed Philadelphia.
Johnson (3-5) allowed one run and scattered six hits in his first complete game of the season, and third of his career.
Melvin Mora hit a leadoff homer for the second straight game and Tony Batista had four hits and two RBIs for Baltimore, which matched a season-high with 18 hits.
Phillies starter Vicente Padilla (10-5), who had won four straight decisions, lost for the first time since May 26. He gave up 10 hits, five runs, walked none and struck out two in four innings — his shortest outing of the year.
Astros 8, Rangers 5
ARLINGTON, Texas — Lance Berkman hit a three-run home run, and Geoff Blum had a two-run homer to rally Houston past Texas.
The Astros trailed 5-0 one batter into the bottom of the third, then began their comeback with an RBI single by Craig Biggio in the fifth. Blum's homer in the sixth made it 5-3.
Jay Powell (1-1) replaced Texas starter Dave Burba to start the seventh and gave up the lead before he got an out. Julio Lugo led off with a single and Biggio walked, then Berkman drove the ball over the center-field wall for his 25th homer.
Houston padded the lead in the eighth with a bases-load sacrifice fly by Jeff Bagwell and an RBI single by Richard Hidalgo.
Astros rookie Brandon Puffer (1-1) got his first career victory by throwing four scoreless innings in relief of fellow rookie Kirk Saarloos. Billy Wagner pitched the ninth for his 13th save.
Blum's homer in the sixth made it 5-3.

SEATTLE — Freddy Garcia, making a strong bid to be included on the AL All-Star team, allowed six hits in eight innings and Seattle hit three home runs to beat Colorado.
Garcia (11-5) retired 10 of the first 11 batters he faced, hitting Larry Walker with a pitch in the Rockies' third at-bat. He then retired eight in a row before walking Walker in the fourth.
Edgar Martinez hit a three-run home run in the Mariners' four-run fifth and Ichiro Suzuki had a homer and a single as Seattle won its fifth straight. Bret Boone homered for the second night in a row, hitting a solo shot to right in the seventh.
The Rockies hit just five singles and a double in dropping their fifth in a row.
Garcia struck out five and walked one and joined Chicago's Mark Buehrle, New York's Mike Mussina and Boston's Derek Lowe for the most wins in the American League.
Angels 7, Dodgers 0
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Aaron Sele retired 23 of his last 25 batters and pitched a three-hitter as Anaheim beat Kazuhisa Ishii for the second time in 16 days with a victory over Los Angeles.
Tim Salmon went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, helping send the Dodgers to their second loss in 11 games and reducing Los Angeles' lead in the NL West to 2 1/2 games over Arizona.
Sele (7-5) limited the team with the NL's best record to a pair of singles — Mark Grudzielanek in the second, Shawn Green in the sixth and Eric Karros in the ninth. The right-hander struck out five, walked one and hit a batter while going the distance for the 14th time in 257 career starts.
Ishii (11-4) was allowed five runs and nine hits in 3 2-3 innings in his third loss in four starts, after winning in 10 of his first 11 outings.
