Pineda doesn't impress Cubs
The Associated Press
CHICAGO Reds pitcher Luis Pineda didn't make a big impression on the Chicago Cubs despite winning his first major league start Tuesday.
He was what you'd call "wildly effective.' You didn't know what to expect, Chicago's Corey Patterson said.
Pineda pitched five shutout innings but walked five and even walked the bases loaded in the second inning. The Cubs stranded 12 runners, seven in scoring position. They were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
He gave us so many opportunities, Cubs manager Don Baylor said. He was all over the place. He really struggled through five innings. We had enough baserunners to win the game.
