Moments after Ken Griffey Jr. doubled in the fourth inning Sunday, he drew some boos from the Cinergy Field crowd. That's because he pulled up with tightness in his right hamstring and left the game for precautionary reasons. He is day-to-day.
The fans are frustrated with Griffey's injury troubles. No one could be as frustrated as Griffey.
Every time I get something started, something happens, he said. I don't know what's going on.
The injury is to the same hamstring he strained June 7 in Anaheim, which caused him to miss eight starts.
He felt it pull, but it didn't tear; it didn't pop, Reds medical director Tim Kremchek said. It's just tight.
Griffey had an extra-base hit in every game this weekend and is batting .368 (7-for-19) in his past last seven games.
I hope it's just one or two games, Griffey said. Then I can get back out there.
