Reds Notebook:
Griffey could start today

The Cincinnati Enquirer
ARLINGTON, Texas The status of outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. remained unchanged. He was available to pinch hit Tuesday and could start today.
STINNETT UPDATE: The Reds won't have to make a decision on their catcher situation any time soon. Kelly Stinnett suffered a pulled groin muscle in Monday night's Louisville game.
He was examined by Dr.Kremchek (Tuesday), Bowden said. His groin is very sore. It's going to be awhile. Those injuries have the potential to be season-ending.
Stinnett was in Louisville rehabbing his injured right elbow.
REST COMING UP: Bob Boone said he plans to rest shortstop Barry Larkin, first baseman Sean Casey and third baseman Aaron Boone on the day before or after Thursday's off day.
Having Russell Branyan, who was acquired Friday in a trade with Cleveland, makes that easier.
Absolutely, Bob Boone said. That's one of the reasons we got him.
Branyan will play third when Aaron Boone is rested. He'll play left, with Adam Dunn playing first, when Casey is rested.
STAR MANAGER: Dave Concepcion will manage the World Team in the All-Star Futures Game July 7 at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Paul Molitor will manage the U.S. Team.
Concepcion spent his entire 19-year major-league career playing for the Reds. He was named MVP of the 1982 All-Star Game.
The rosters and coaches for the Futures Teams will be named at a later date.
MALLOY RE-SIGNED: The Reds signed infielder Marty Malloy to a minor-league contract.
Malloy appeared in 24 games for the Florida Marlins this year and was 3-for-25 with one RBI. He was outrighted Friday but refused the assignment and elected for free agency Monday. The Reds signed Malloy and sent him to Louisville, where he hit .303 in 126 games last year.
FARM REPORT: Left-hander Brian Bohanon gave up three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning for Louisville in Monday's 10-8 loss to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Right-hander Josh Hall went six innings, allowing two runs, in Double-A Chattanooga's 5-2 win over Jacksonville. Hall, a seventh-round pick in 1999, is a combined 7-0 with a 2.46 ERA at Chattanooga and Single-A Stockton this season.
