Reds at Angels series preview


        When: 10:05 p.m. today; 4:10 p.m. Saturday; 4:05 p.m. Sunday.

        Where: Edison Field.

        TV: Saturday, Channel 19; Sunday, Fox Sports Net.

        Radio: WLW-AM (700).

        Records: Reds 34-24, first place in the National League Central. Angels 34-23, second place in the American League West after their 9-8 loss to Texas Thursday night.

        The arms: Today — RHP Chris Reitsma (3-2, 2.65) vs. RHP Aaron Sele (5-3, 5.16); Saturday — RHP Elmer Dessens (4-3, 2.51) vs. RHP Ramon Ortiz (6-5, 3.40); Sunday — RHP Joey Hamilton (3-3, 4.47) vs. LHP Scott Schoeneweis (4-4, 4.77).

        The bats: Third baseman Troy Glaus leads the Angels with 12 home runs and 49 RBI. Outfielders Tim Salmon (10 HRs, 37 RBI) and Garret Anderson (12 HRs, 42 RBI) also have good production numbers.

        The rest: The Reds and Angels have met once before, playing two exhibition games after the 1981 strike. The Angels are the American League's surprise team. They've done it with pitching, ranking third in the AL with a 3.78 ERA.
