NEW YORK Enrique Wilson, a late addition to the starting lineup for injured Alfonso Soriano, hit a tiebreaking grand slam in the sixth inning to lead the New York Yankees over the Boston Red Sox 10-2 Saturday.
The Yankees backed Mike Mussina (8-2) with four more home runs to win for the 19th time in 24 games.
Derek Jeter hit a first-pitch leadoff homer and Jason Giambi and Rondell White connected later as New York snapped Boston's four-game winning streak and sent the Red Sox to just their fifth loss in 26 road games.
Mussina allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings to win his fifth straight decision.
Darren Oliver (4-5), whose recent struggles cost him his spot in the rotation, lost in relief.
Indians 8, White Sox 4
CLEVELAND Jim Thome's three-run homer capped a fifth inning when Cleveland scored eight unearned runs and the Indians sent the Chicago White Sox to their lost sixth straight.
Thome's 15th homer concluded Cleveland's biggest inning since April 7, 2000, and came after Chicago's infield made two errors behind starter Todd Ritchie (3-7).
Ritchie, who beat the Indians twice earlier this season, didn't allow an earned run but lost his fifth consecutive start.
Omar Vizquel hit a two-out, two-run single in the fifth as the Indians won their third straight. Danys Baez (5-4) got the victory.
Orioles 4, Mariners 3
BALTIMORE Jay Gibbons singled in two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat Kazuhiro Sasaki and the Seattle Mariners.
Although a throwing error by Sasaki (2-1) contributed heavily to the two-run comeback, one of the runs was earned the first earned run against the Mariners' closer in 21 appearances this season.
Gibbons' hit came with the bases loaded and no outs. It was the third blown save for Sasaki Seattle was 25-0 this season when leading after eight innings.
Willis Roberts (3-1) pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Orioles, who were 0-24 when trailing after eight innings.
Twins 4, Angels 2
MINNEAPOLIS Kyle Lohse threw seven innings to match his longest outing of the season and Cristian Guzman homered as the Minnesota Twins rallied to beat the Anaheim Angels.
Lohse (5-3) was the first Twins starter in three games to last beyond the fourth inning, allowing one run and eight hits.
Guzman's third home run of the season came off Kevin Appier (5-3) in a three-run seventh inning that put the Twins ahead for good.
Eddie Guardado got his 17th save in 19 chances.
Rangers 3, Royals 1
ARLINGTON, Texas Kenny Rogers pitched a five-hitter and the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals.
Herbert Perry had three hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs.
Rogers (6-3) struck out six and walked one. He shut out Kansas City until the ninth inning, when Carlos Febles led off with a double and later scored on Mark Sweeney's groundout.
Perry's eighth homer gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first against Darrell May (0-3).
Athletics 8, Devil Rays 3
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Barry Zito struck out 11 and won his fifth straight decision, leading the Oakland Athletics over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Zito (6-2) tied his career high for strikeouts, allowing one run and seven hits in eight innings.
Zito threw seven shutout innings in Oakland's 7-0 win over the Devil Rays last Sunday. He is 4-0 all-time against Tampa Bay.
Scott Hatteberg, who homered twice at Tropicana Field on Friday night, hit a three-run homer in the eighth for a 6-1 lead. He has four home runs and nine RBIs against Tampa Bay this season.
Joe Kennedy (3-5) gave up six runs and 10 hits in 7 2-3 innings.
Blue Jays 4, Tigers 1, 11 innings
DETROIT Jose Cruz Jr. singled and scored the go-ahead run and Darrin Fletcher hit a two-run homer as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Detroit Tigers in 11 innings.
Cliff Politte (1-0) didn't give up a hit while striking out two over 2 1-3 innings. Kelvim Escobar got his ninth save.
After Detroit closer Juan Acevedo held the Blue Jays hitlesss in the ninth and 10th innings, Danny Patterson (0-1) made his first appearance since the second game of the season after being put on the disabled list with elbow problems.
