Cinergy Moment No. 26 - May 13, 1993
Kevin Mitchell's red-and-yellow bash

Reds slugger Kevin Mitchell hit a red-seat home run and a yellow-seat home run in the most prodigious single-game display of tape-measure slugging in the history of Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field.
It was a Thursday afternoon business day special against the San Diego Padres. Mitchell's first home run was in the yellow seats (415 feet); the second was in the red (458 feet) .
They were back-to-back shots in his first two at-bats.
I think people are expecting a little too much of me, Mitchell said after the game. I hit two home runs and the fans are yelling at me to hit another one. They're never satisfied here.
The pitcher was Dave Eilan.
A lot of guys could have hit a home run on the hanging slider I threw him the first time up, Eiland said after the game. But that second home run came on a pitch (a sinker) I've throw a thousand times and got 999 ground balls.
Reds broadcaster Joe Nuxhall suggested to Reds pitcher Tom Browning that their best pokes might match Mitchell's red-seat bomb if they were combined. Browning disagreed.
I think we're going to need a third, he said.
