Reds Notebook:
Stinnett makes progress

By Mark Curnutte mcurnutte@enquirer.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Catcher Kelly Stinnett (right elbow) is expected to play at Louisville on a rehab assignment Friday.

Reliever Scott Sullivan had an MRI Tuesday that revealed a bruised right elbow. He received a cortisone shot and is listed as day-to-day. Sullivan was struck on the elbow by a batted ball May13 at Milwaukee.

63 HOURS: The Reds opened their three-game homestand Tuesday night against Florida after arriving at 1:45a.m. from St. Louis, where they played Monday night.

The Reds will fly to Atlanta immediately after Thursday's 12:35p.m. start. Tuesday night's game was the 12th in 12 days for the Reds. Their next off day is Monday, and Sunday's game against the Braves will be their 17th in 17 days.

The Reds entered Tuesday night's game with a 6-5 record since their last off day, May 9.

READING TIME: Reds backup outfielder Brady Clark will visit the main branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and read to 60 students from 11a.m.-noon today.

Clark will read from several books and interact with second- grade students from Central Fairmount school as part of Major League Baseball's first Na tional Baseball Literacy Day.

Y-M-C-A: Eight Reds players will film a commercial today at Cinergy Field to promote the 1970s Night event June 21. The disco-pop group Village People will appear following Friday night's game against Oakland.

Today, the Reds players will dress in Village People-style costumes for the filming.

In the clubhouse before Tuesday's game, outfielder Adam Dunn, one of the players scheduled to participate in the commercial, sported a feathered headdress similar to one worn by a Village People member.

MAY DAY: In spite of dropping three of four games in St.Louis, the Reds are 11-9 in May after their 6-1 victory Tuesday.

SLUMPING: Reds third baseman Aaron Boone was 0-for-4, dropping his batting average to .196.
