Hamilton should return today

Opening Day starter Joey Hamilton is expected to be reactivated from the disabled list today following a workout Tuesday.
To make room for Hamilton after their 6-1 victory Tuesday night over the Florida Marlins the Reds optioned pitcher Jose Acevedo (4-2, 7.23 ERA) to Triple-A Louisville.
Hamilton (2-1) went on the DL May7 with a slight tear in his left hamstring. Today is the first day he is eligible to return.
Hamilton threw about 65 pitches off the Cinergy Field mound, fielded ground balls and covered first base on balls hit to the right side of the infield.
He looked very good coming off the mound, Reds manager Bob Boone said. It appears everything in the leg is gone.
Hamilton looked good enough to Reds officials and medical staff that he will not need a rehab start in the minor leagues.
I would suspect we'll just throw him out there and start riding on him, Boone said.
Hamilton made seven starts and has thrown 40 2/3 innings with a 3.10 ERA.
Hamilton was the eighth Reds player to go on the disabled list this year.
