Fan injured when bat flies into stands
The Associated Press
DENVER A fan was injured when Atlanta catcher Javy Lopez accidentally threw his bat into the stands in the second inning of a game between the Braves and Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
The woman, who was sitting in the first row behind the Braves' dugout, was hit in the head after Lopez lost control of the bat swinging at a pitch by John Thomson.
Medical personnel attended to the woman for several minutes before she was helped from her seat and up the steps. She was holding a towel to her forehead as she walked away.
Rockies officials said the woman received a few stitches and was taken Denver General Hospital as a precaution.
