Brewers manager becoming Reds fan

The Associated Press

MILWAUKEE — While some may think the Reds aren't good enough to hold onto first place in the NL Central, Brewers manager Jerry Royster thinks the Reds are for real.

“I hate to say it, but I'm becoming a fan of this team here,” Royster said after the Reds beat the Brewers for the sixth straight time, 7-4, Wednesday night.

“This team just keeps on coming at you. They send in Reggie Taylor today and sit down (Juan) Encarnacion, who's been just killing us. These young hitters that they have are just doing an outstanding job. And now (Todd) Walker starts hitting. You've got to be kidding me.

“We were lucky they didn't have 100 (runs) tonight,” Royster said.

"These guys are going to be dangerous.”

At 24-15, the Reds have their biggest division lead (4 1/2 games) since winning it by nine games in 1995.

The Reds have won seven of nine since ending a four-game losing streak May 5.
