Pony backs Rose for Hall
The Associated Press
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. Pete Rose's latest sponsor is taking up his cause to reach the Hall of Fame.
Ads in magazines and on billboards featuring Rose and displaying the phrase, Why isn't Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame? will soon appear, said David Schulte, president of Pony brands.
The athletic shoe company will run a three-month campaign.
It's nice for me to know that someone's in my corner, Rose said Tuesday.
Rose agreed to a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball in 1989 following an investigation of his gambling. The former Reds star, the career hits leader, is ineligible for the Hall of Fame ballot while he is on the permanently banned list.
