SAN FRANCISCO Barry Bonds became the first player in major league history to hit 400 home runs with one team and 100 with another when he connected off Cincinnati's Jimmy Haynes in the first inning.
It was Bonds' 400th home run as a San Francisco Giant. He hit 176 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Bonds hit the first pitch he saw into the first row of the bleachers in right field. He now has 576 in his career, seven behind Mark McGwire for fifth on the all-time list.
It was also Bonds' first home run since April 17, a span of 33 at-bats.
