Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 2, Louisville Bats 1
The Associated Press
MOOSIC, Pa. J.P. Roberge, one day after being recalled from Double-A, launched a two-run home run in the fourth inning, as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre edged Louisville 2-1 on Thursday.
Roberge drilled a 2-1 pitch from Bats starter Jose Acevedo over the left-field wall, and thanks to a Red Barons bullpen that allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings, it proved good enough on the scoreboard.
Reliever Cary Hiles (2-1) tossed five shutout innings, giving up just one hit after coming on for starter Franklin Nunez. Nunez, who pitched two scoreless innings, made his first start since he hurt his shoulder April 28 and was limited to 37 pitches.
Pete Zamora pitched a three-up, three-down ninth inning to secure his fifth save.
Acevedo (1-2) pitched seven strong innings, allowing just five hits and three walks. He struck out nine.
Jason Maxwell had an RBI triple in the eighth inning to lead Louisville.
