Todd Helton tripled twice and drove in four runs as the Colorado Rockies snapped a seven-game losing streak against Arizona.

Helton's bases-loaded triple put the Rockies ahead 7-3 in the seventh inning. He then scored his third run on Todd Hollandsworth's squeeze bunt.

Helton hit two triples in each of the last two seasons.

Greg Norton had a two-run homer for the Rockies. His sacrifice bunt in the sixth set up Benny Agbayani's grounder off Brian Anderson (0-2), giving Colorado a 4-3 lead.

Denny Neagle (2-1) allowed solo homers by Luis Gonzalez and Jose Guillen. Jose Jimenez pitched the ninth for his fourth save.

        Dodgers 5, Padres 2

LOS ANGELES — Hideo Nomo pitched 7 1-3 strong innings and Shawn Green doubled twice as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres.

Nomo, who lost to Brian Lawrence and the Padres 1-0 last Sunday, held San Diego to two runs and five hits.

Nomo (2-2) struck out five and walked one. Lawrence (2-1) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings.

San Diego rookie Sean Burroughs, playing his 13th big league game, hit his first major league home run. He connected leading off the fifth.

        Pirates 7, Phillies 4

PITTSBURGH — Armando Rios' two-run single in a four-run eighth inning lifted the injury-depleted Pirates past Philadelphia.

The Central Division-leading Pirates squandered a three-run lead but still won their fourth in a row to improve to 10-5 — their best start since opening 12-3 in 1992, when they captured their last division title.

Sean Lowe (1-0) got the victory and Mike Williams earned his seventh save in as many opportunities.

After a rain delay of nearly two hours, Phillies starter Vicente Padilla (2-2) fell behind 3-0 on Brian Giles' solo homer in the first and two-run single in the third.

Pittsburgh catcher Jason Kendall (concussion) and second baseman Pokey Reese (strained right hamstring) left early with injuries.

Bobby Abreu homered to begin a three-run fourth for the Phillies.

        Giants 3, Astros 2

HOUSTON — Livan Hernandez won his fourth straight start despite another home run by Lance Berkman, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Houston Astros 3-2 Friday night.

Reggie Sanders hit a two-run double off Shane Reynolds (2-2) and Rich Aurilia homered for the Giants.

Hernandez (4-0) allowed six his in seven innings, including homers Berkman's major league-leading ninth homer, which moved him ahead of Barry Bonds, who singled twice and drew three walk.

Robb Nen pitched the ninth for his fourth save.

        Expos 5, Mets 3

MONTREAL — Lee Stevens hit a three-run homer, and New York made three errors, increasing its major league-leading total to 24. Roberto Alomar, a 10-time Gold Glove at second, made his first two errors of the season.

The crowd of 8,281 — Montreal's first over 5,000 since drawing 34,351 on opening day — included a large contingent of Mets fans who made the trip north from New York.

Tony Armas Jr. (2-2) allowed two runs — one earned — in 6 2-3 innings. Steve Trachsel (1-3), who defeated Armas on Sunday, gave up four unearned runs in the third. Matt Herges pitched a perfect ninth for his first save with the Expos.

        Braves 3, Marlins 2

ATLANTA — Darren Holmes (1-0) won for the first time since Sept. 7, 1999, with Arizona, and Chipper Jones hit a go-ahead grounder in the eighth as Atlanta overcame two Cliff Floyd homers.

Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer off Ryan Dempster (0-1), who got his fifth complete game in 107 career starts. John Smoltz got his fourth save, leaving the bases loaded in the ninth when Andy Fox flied out.

        Brewers 6, Cardinals 1

MILWAUKEE — Ruben Quevedo (1-1) snapped a career-long four-game losing streak and Milwaukee won its second straight game under interim manager Jerry Royster.

Quevedo scattered seven hits over 7 1-3 innings as Milwaukee posted consecutive victories for the first time this season. Luis Vizcaino got four outs for his first save.

Mike Timlin (0-1) lost in his first start since June 23, 1991, and only the fourth of his 12-year major league career. He allowed four runs and six hits in 4 1-3 innings.
