SARASOTA, Fla. Reds right-hander Chris Reitsma left Tuesday's 12-9 loss to the Minnesota Twins after the second inning. He said he has been having problems getting his elbow loose this spring.
Reitsma, who twice has broken his elbow, had an MRI last week but said the results didn't show any problems.
Before leaving the game Tuesday, he allowed two hits and five runs.
It really wasn't anything physically wrong with me, Reitsma said. It was just one of those days that happen very rarely when you can't find your release point. I guess for me, you just have to chalk it up to that. It won't continue, that's for sure.
Reitsma said after he left the game he threw another 20 pitches in the bullpen. He will stay in Sarasota and pitch in a minor-league game Sunday, then fly to Cincinnati after the game.
He said nobody knows why his arm has been bothering him.
No one really knows about it, because it's not that big of a deal, Reitsma said. It may be a little bit of tendinitis. The doctors tell me I'm just fine.
