LaRue in 0-for-26 slump
The Cincinnati Enquirer
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Bob Boone said there's nothing else the Reds can do to help catcher Jason LaRue get over his 0-for-26 batting slump.
At some point, it's really up to the player, Boone said. It's in his mind right now, and he's got a week (until Opening Day) to get it out. So I'm not worried about it.
Boone said LaRue's problem is all mental.
The problem is it can really get in your head in a hurry, and it distracts you from what you have to do when you go out there and play, Boone said. The toughest thing in the world is to figure it out. Hitting is a funny thing.
LaRue didn't play Sunday.
Boone added it's too early to start looking at backup catcher Kelly Stinnett for Opening Day.
