The arms: Right-hander Elmer Dessens allowed three hits and one run in five innings. Gabe White gave up two runs and two hits in two innings. Scott Williamson didn't allow any hits in the eighth. Danny Graves took the loss. He gave up one hit and one run in the ninth.
The bats: Juan Encarnacion hit a two-run home run, giving him three in the last three days. Ruben Mateo also went deep, in the eighth. The Reds totaled seven hits.
The rest: No Reds hitter had more than one hit.
Up next: The Reds, expected to play without their starters, will face the Cleveland Indians at 1:05p.m. today at Winter Haven, Fla.
