Royals 7, Reds 6




        The arms: Starter Elmer Dessens went four innings, allowing four runs on seven hits ... Scott Sullivan worked two innings, allowing one run on two hits ... Hector Mercado took the loss. He allowed two runs (one earned) in seventh.

        The bats: Juan Encarnacion, Robin Jennings and Juan Castro hit back-to-back-to-back doubles in the fourth .. . Castro, Todd Walker and Jennings each had two hits and a RBI.

        The rest: The Reds have lost five in a row ... Right fielder Jennings threw out Raul Ibanez trying to score from second on a single ... Jason LaRue made two throwing errors in the third inning.

        Up next: The Reds have their only off day of the spring. Joey Hamilton will pitch in a minor league game.
