The arms: Starter Jimmy Haynes went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out one. He gave up a 420-foot home run to dead center by Shane Halter. . . Danny Graves followed Haynes and worked three innings. He allowed one run on three hits. It was the first run he has allowed this spring in 12 innings.
The bats: Raul Gonzalez got the Reds' first run home with a triple to dead center. Ruben Mateo got Gonzalez home with a single. The Reds had only five hits. Juan Castro drove in the first run with an infield single... The Reds who came into the game hitting .208 (worst in the majors).
The rest: Former Red Dmitri Young did not play for the Tigers because he has the flu.
Up next: The Reds play the Pirates in Bradenton in a 1:05 p.m. game. Right-hander Ricardo Aramboles (1-1, 6.14 ERA) makes his first start. The 20-year-old right-hander allowed five runs in one inning his last outing. Left-hander Jimmy Anderson (0-1, 3.12) will start for the Pirates. Jose Rijo will follow Aramboles.
