Reds sweep Twins in split squad games
Good pitching in 6-1, 2-0 wins
The arms: Both starters were very impressive. Joey Hamilton went four innings in Sarasota, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out five. In Fort Myers, Ty Howington threw 4 2/3 innings of two-hit ball. ... Ricardo Aramboles got the win in Sarasota. The 20-year-old right-hander has allowed only two hits in 5 1/3 innings this spring. He has five strikeouts. ... Jared Fernandez got the win in Fort Myers, pitching 3 1/3 innings of one-hit ball.
The bats: Ken Griffey Jr. had his first two hits of the spring. He doubled in the first and singled to drive in two runs in the sixth. ... Todd Walker hit his second home run of the spring to drive in the Reds' first two runs. ... Brady Clark drove in two runs with a pinch-hit double. ... The Reds had only four hits in Fort Myers.
The rest: The Reds have gone four straight games without an error after making 17 in the first eight games.
Up next: The Reds play the Toronto Blue Jays at 12:05 p.m. today at Dunedin. Right-hander Jose Acevedo faces RHP Corey Thurman. The game is on WLW-AM (700).
