Everyone with a TV will be able to see the last Opening Day game at Cinergy Field on April 1.
WCPO-TV (Channel 9) announced Monday it will will simulcast the Fox Sports Ohio telecast of the 2:15 p.m. Reds-Cubs game.
Everyone wants to see it. The game sold out in 26 minutes, said Bill Fee, Channel 9 general manager.
Opening Day was not broadcast by a local TV station last year. Only cable TV subscribers could watch it on the Fox Sports Ohio channel.
This will be Channel 9's first locally produced Reds telecast in almost 50 years. The station carried some games in the early 1950s from Crosley Field, before the club granted exclusive rights on one TV station, Mr. Fee says. Channel 9 will air a two-hour live special on April 1, from the noon news to the first pitch, Fee says.
