SARASOTA, Fla. Ken Griffey Jr. made an uneventful spring training debut Sunday. Griffey caught one fly ball and grounded out in both trips to the plate. The second groundout brought in the Reds' second run.
It was good to be out there again, Griffey said. That's what I like to do: Come to the ballpark, compete and have some fun.
Griffey will play in the Reds' game today against Kansas City at Baseball City and again Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater.
Griffey missed two days this spring with a stomach viral infection.
I still have some discomfort when I move certain ways, he said.
The hamstring has been fine.
I didn't have to air it out (Sunday), he said. But I haven't had any pain doing sprints or anything.
