Reds make minor moves

By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Right-handed knuckleballer Jared Fernandez signed a minor-league contract for next season.

Fernandez made his major-league debut with the Reds after being called up in September. He appeared in five games and made two starts. He was 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA.

The Reds also promoted pitching coach Ted Power to Single-A Dayton from Rookie Billings. The Dayton pitching coach, Bill Moloney, took the same position at Single-A Mudville. The team also named Alonzo Powell hitting coach at Double-A Chattanooga.
