Reds-Brewers scouting report
When: 8:05 p.m. today, 7:05 p.m. Saturday, 2:05p.m. Sunday.
Where: Miller Park, Milwaukee.
Radio: WLW-AM (700).
TV: Fox Sports Net, tonight and Saturday.
Records: Reds 59-88, fifth place National League Central; Milwaukee 63-84, fourth place NL Central.
The arms:
Today Lance Davis (6-3, 4.98 ERA) vs. Ben Sheets (10-9, 4.79);
Saturday Jose Acevedo (4-6, 6.13) vs. Ruben Quevedo (4-3, 3.47);
Sunday Elmer Dessens (9-12, 4.61) vs. Jamey Wright (9-12, 4.80).
The bats: The Motley Brew Crew has dropped five straight games by a combined score of 35-7. But guess who is virtually guaranteed of rbreaking the Brewers' franchise record of homers by a first baseman? Richie Sexson, who loves to face the homer-happy Reds' staff. He is presently tied with former Brewer George (Boomer) Scott, who hit 36 in 1975.
The rest: Both teams are abysmal, so let's speak frankly about franks. The Brewers' sausages were better at old County Stadium. The Reds must not reprise this wurst mistake when they move to Great American Ball Park in 2003. Cinergy's garlic dogs with sauteed peppers and onions are a definite keeper.
