Chest pains hospitalize Griffey Sr.
Return to team uncertain, Jr. says
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Reds hitting coach Ken Griffey Sr. was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains and kept overnight Tuesday after undergoing a series of tests.
I talked to him at 6:30 (Tuesday) morning, said his son, Ken Griffey Jr. He sounded about as well as you expect for 6:30 in the morning. He didn't know if he was going to get released or not.
Junior talked to a nurse at 2 p.m., and she said Senior was still undergoing an electrocardiogram.
Senior, 51, took time off from coaching earlier this season because of neck and shoulder pain.
He said he couldn't breathe and he broke out in a cold sweat, Junior said. It's scary when it's your dad.
