Dunn loses eligibility for Rookie of Year
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
HOUSTON Adam Dunn lost the 2002 National League Rookie of the Year race Saturday. That's the day Dunn went over 131 at-bats for 2001.
To be eligible for Rookie of the Year, a player can't have more than 131 at-bats, 50 innings pitched or 45 days on the active roster the previous season.
Dunn is OK with being ineligible for next year's race.
I just wanted to get to the big leagues, said Dunn, who hit his 12th homer in 37 games Wednesday night. I'm not worried about that.
Dunn had 140 at-bats going into Wednesday's game and should finish with about 250. That's a good taste of the big leagues.
I think it will help for next year, Dunn said.
