Records: Reds (53-77), fifth place in the National League Central, vs. Houston Astros (75-55), first place in the National League Central.
The arms:
Today LHP Lance Davis (6-2, 4.62 ERA) vs. RHP Wade Miller (13-7, 3.77);
Wednesday RHP Elmer Dessens (9-10, 4.48) vs. RHP Carlos Hernandez (1-0, 0.00);
Thursday LHP Dennys Reyes (1-4, 5.19) vs. RHP Roy Oswalt (11-2, 2.98).
The bats: Moises Alou leads the NL in hitting (.350). Lance Berkman is fifth (.336) and also has 31 homers and 104 RBI. Jeff Bagwell has 32 HRs and 103 RBI. Craig Biggio is hitting .306 and has 98 runs. The Astros have five players with as many homers as Reds leader Ken Griffey Jr. (19).
The rest: The Reds get a chance to play spoiler. They helped Houston last week by taking three of four from St. Louis. The Reds are 4-3 in Enron this year. The Astros have won six of 11 against Cincinnati overall.
