ST. LOUIS - The Reds got solo home runs from Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn and Brady Clark Wednesday night. But they weren't nearly enough with the way Chris Reitsma pitched.
Reitsma (5-12) continued his struggles on the mound in an 8-4 loss.
He left before getting an out in the fifth inning. He allowed 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned).
It was a frustrating night, Reitsma said. I couldn't locate my pitches, and they hit my mistakes.
On June 20, Reitsma was 4-6 with a 4.12 ERA. Since then, as a starter, he's 0-7 with a 6.93 ERA.

I'm not concerned with his confidence, manager Bob Boone said. What I am concerned about is his accuracy with the fastball. All his mistakes were fastballs up.
Reitsma's velocity is down. Coming out of spring training, he was throwing 92 to 94 mph.
Now, he has to really gear it up to get to 90, 91, Boone said.
Things started badly for Reitsma and never got better.
He gave up a three-run home run to Jim Edmonds in the first, another run in the second, then after a 1-2-3 third, Reitsma gave up two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Dunn's home run came in the second. It went out like a bolt and landed high in the right-field seats an estimated shot of 401 feet. The home run was Dunn's sixth, giving him at least one homer in four straight series.
It was Griffey's 14th homer of the year, tying him for the team lead with Young, Boone and Todd Walker. It was Griffey's 452nd of his career, tying him with Carl Yastrzemski for 23rd on the all-time list.
