88 lineups later, Boone likes this one
Finds the right combo Saturday
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The lineup the Reds used Saturday night is one you'll see pretty much on a daily basis barring trade or injury.
Second baseman Todd Walker led off, followed by right fielder Adam Dunn, center fielder Ken Griffey Jr., first baseman Sean Casey, third baseman Aaron Boone, left fielder Dmitri Young, catcher Jason LaRue and shortstop Pokey Reese.
That's what you're going to see, Reds manager Bob Boone said, although I may give Dmitri a day off.
Boone has used 88 different lineups this year, but this is one he likes.
Walker sees a lot of pitches, he said. Dunn sees a lot of pitches. So does Casey. Aaron's getting better at it. Making them throw a lot of pitches is big. That takes a lot out of a pitcher.
The Reds have been scoring more runs since the trade that brought Walker from the Colorado Rockies for Alex Ochoa. Ochoa's departure opened a spot for Dunn.
In the seven games after the trade, the Reds have averaged 6.71 runs a game. In the three games before the trade, they scored a total of three runs and were averaging 4.11 runs a game.
