Harnisch doesn't make much progress

Pete Harnisch threw 70 pitches off the mound before Friday's game. Pitching coach Don Gullett wouldn't call the session a setback but said: Pete didn't progress the way we hoped. He had a little discomfort.
Harnisch has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a sore right elbow.
He was able to throw 70 pitches at 60 to 65 percent, Gullett said. So it wasn't a setback from that standpoint.
Harnisch will throw again Sunday.
RIEDLING UPDATE: John Riedling also threw Friday. Riedling, on the DL since May 27 with a right shoulder problem, threw 48 pitches at 80 to 90 percent.
He continues to progress, Gullett said. He threw a breaking ball, sliders.
STINNETT UPDATE: Catcher Kelly Stinnett was given a cortisone shot to combat the inflammation in his right elbow. Stinnett got the injection immediately after the Reds returned from Atlanta on Wednesday. He was available Friday night, but Reds manager Bob Boone said he will try to rest him for a few days.
This is the first time I've had it this bad, Stinnett said. I've had it on and off since the beginning of the season. It's a nagging muscle thing. When it started affecting my swing, I thought we better nip it in the bud.
NO. 86: Friday night's Reds lineup was the 86th different one used in the 102 games this year. Adam Dunn batted third for the first time.
Ken Griffey Jr. was out of the lineup as part of a planned rest.
WILLIAMSON REHAB: Continuing his recovery from elbow surgery, idled right-hander Scott Williamson said he has begun throwing a two-pound ball at a 15-foot distance.
It's awesome. I feel like I'm actually doing something, said Williamson, who throws 15 times from a windup and 15 times from the stretch position every other day. Williamson, who expects to be ready for spring training, intends to start throwing off a mound in October.
UP NEXT: Right-hander Elmer Dessens (6-8, 4.64) faces RH Brad Penny (7- 4, 3.70) at 7:05 p.m. today in the second game of the series.
