Reds-Braves Scouting Report
When: 7:35 p.m. today and Tuesday; 1:05 p.m. Wednesday.
Where: Turner Field.
Radio: WLW-AM (700).
TV: Fox Sports Net, today and Tuesday; TBS, subject to blackout.
Records: Cincinnati 36-62 (sixth place National League Central); Atlanta 56-42 (first place NL East).
Probable starting pitchers:
Today, RHP Elmer Dessens (6-8, 4.65 ERA) vs. LHP Tom Glavine (9-5, 4.20)
Tuesday, RHP Jim Brower (4-7, 3.64) vs. RHP John Burkett (7-7, 2.38)
Wednesday, RHP Jose Acevedo (2-2, 5.81) vs. RHP Kevin Millwood (1-4, 4.98).
The bats: Ken Caminiti is hitting .238 (10-for-42) since joining the Braves as a free agent earlier this month. But shortstop Mark DeRosa, hitting .352 (31-for-88) since replacing injured Rafael Furcal, has been a pleasant surprise.
The arms: Atlanta limited the Reds to two runs while sweeping last week's two-game series at Cinergy Field. Glavine and Burkett were the winning pitchers in those games.
The rest: The Reds' only series victory in the teams' previous 10 meetings came at Turner Field last Aug. 28-31, when the Reds won three of four games.
