Reds-Marlins Scouting Report




        The series: The Reds (35-60, sixth place in the National League Central) vs. the Florida Marlins (49-47, third place in NL East.)

        When: 7:05p.m. today and Saturday; 4:05p.m. Sunday.

        Where: Pro Player Stadium.

        Radio: WLW-AM (700).

        TV: All games on Fox Sports Net.

        The bats: Cliff Floyd, he of the near All-Star slight, is hitting .352 with 25 homers and 81 RBI. Charles Johnson also is having a big year: .280, 17 homers and 58 RBI. Mike Lowell is hitting .278 with 12 homers and 70 RBI.

        The arms:

        Today — RHP Jose Acevedo (2-1, 5.14) vs. RHP Matt Clement (5-6, 5.23)

        Saturday — LHP Lance Davis (2-1, 6.75) vs. RHP Brad Penny (7-3, 3.63)

        Sunday — RHP Chris Reitsma (4-9, 4.45) vs. RHP A.J. Burnett (7-5, 3.13).

        The rest: This is the first time the Reds have faced the Marlins since Tony Perez took over as manager. The Marlins are 27-21 since the Hall-of-Famer replaced the fired John Boles.
