Boone will watch Rijo tonight
The Associated Press
Reds manager Bob Boone plans to drive to Louisville after this afternoon's game to watch Jose Rijo make his second Class Triple-A start.
Boone noted that Rijo's lobbying for a promotion to the Reds was the big news around town this week.
He's putting on a pretty good campaign, Boone said.
Rijo, 36, is trying to make a comeback from four major elbow operations since 1995 and is eager to be called up. He urged the Reds to let him start against the Braves on Thursday, but they want him to make at least two more Triple-A starts with the Louisville RiverBats (batsbaseball.com).
