Sullivan has irregular heartbeat
By Chris Haft
The Cincinnati Enquirer
HOUSTON An irregular heartbeat was the official diagnosis on reliever Scott Sullivan, who left Cinergy Field in the middle of Wednesday's game with what was then described as dizziness.
Sullivan received intravenous fluids and some medication at Good Samaritan Hospital and was declared fit to pitch. He traveled here on his own Thursday.
The cardiologist said it was very common ... in people 70 to 80, said the 30-year-old Sullivan, whose modesty is matched by his dry sense of humor. They said, "You'll be throwing 76 (mph) in no time.' A 90-mph fastball is considered average.
Sullivan said doctors couldn't determine what caused his malady. He added that he'll be checked again after the team returns to Cincinnati to begin a homestand next Thursday.
Sullivan said he felt kind of funny when he went home after Tuesday night's game.
I didn't think anything of it, he said. I got to the park and tried to get ready for (Wednesday's) game, and the more I exercised, the worse I felt.
