Bell will start for Rangers

Rob Bell was on his way to get his hair cut when he got a call on his cell phone. He saw the “513” and figured it was a friend.

“He said, "This is Jim Bowden, we've just traded you to the Texas Rangers,'” Bell said. “It caught me completely off guard.”

Bell, a 24-year-old right-hander, talked with Rangers general manager Doug Melvin, who told Bell he would start for the Rangers Tuesday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

“I'm happy and excited about the opportunity,” Bell said.

Bell stopped by the Reds clubhouse to pack and say goodbye to his former teammates.

“I worry about the stupid stuff,” he said. “Is my apartment OK? Will my car get shipped?”
